The region's first designated Magnet hospital, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is home to the nationally ranked heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital. The cardiology and heart surgery program at Sentara Heart Hospital is ranked among the nation's top 50 heart programs by U.S. News & World Report for 2015-16 — the only nationally ranked heart program in Virginia — with a No. 31 ranking. It is also ranked the No. 2 hospital overall in Virginia by the publication.
