Sanford USD Medical Center (Sioux Falls, SD). Sanford USD Medical Center is the largest hospital in South Dakota and a teaching hospital for the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota, and this year it was ranked the No. 1 hospital overall in South Dakota by U.S. News & World Report for 2015-16. U.S. News & World Report also named the hospital has high-performing in heart bypass surgery and heart failure in its common care ratings this year. In September, the American Heart Association presented several Sanford Health hospitals, including Sanford USD Medical Center, with recognition for the Mission: Lifetime achievement awards, which recognize Sanford for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlines by the AHA for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Sanford USD Medical Center is Magnet-designated and a BlueCross BlueShield Association Designated Blue Distinction Center+ Center for Cardiac Care.
