Rush University Medical Center, a 664-bed nonprofit academic medical center, is the No. 2 hospital in Chicago and Illinois overall, according to U.S. News & World Report 2015-16 rankings. It also received a high-performing designation in cardiology and heart surgery from U.S. News & World Report. Rush is home to the first heart program in Chicago devoted exclusively to women. At the Rush Heart Center for Women, women with heart problems or who are at risk for them are diagnosed and treated by teams of cardiologists, neurologists, cardio-oncologists, nurse practitioners and nutritionists. Rush is a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care. It is also a designated a Magnet hospital by the American Nursing Association.
