In June 2014, UC San Diego was designated as an official U.S. Olympic Regional Medical Center selected by the United States Olympic Committee to provide a variety of medical services to Team USA athletes, including orthopedics and sports medicine. The hospital was ranked one of the best hospitals for orthopedics for 2014-15 by U.S. News & World Report and is designated as a Blue Distinction Center Plus for both spine surgery and knee and hip replacement. Additionally, UC San Diego Medical Center has a designated Center for Joint Care. Areas of expertise include orthopedic oncology, orthopedic trauma, pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine and spine. UC San Diego Medical Center is designated as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
