University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). Since U.S. News & World Report began ranking cancer care at U.S. hospitals in 1990, MD Anderson Cancer Center has held the No. 1 or 2 spot on the list every year. For 2016-17, MD Anderson was named the best cancer hospital in the country for the ninth time in 10 years. Founded in 1941, MD Anderson became one of the nation's original three comprehensive cancer centers created in 1971 by the National Cancer Act. The Moon Shots Program at MD Anderson was launched in 2012 and extends beyond the facility's walls, improving cancer care for millions of patients by collaborating and sharing information with like-minded community hospitals and health systems.
