University of North Carolina Hospitals (Chapel Hill). UNC Hospitals includes UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of just 47 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. The center includes more than 300 oncologists, researchers, nurses and faculty members spanning 40 university and medical departments. U.S. News & World Report ranked UNC Hospitals among the top 50 hospitals in the country for cancer care. The cancer center is also one of 12 involved in The Cancer Genome Atlas, an NCI-funded effort to molecularly characterize several thousand human cancer samples.
