VUMC's research program is among the top 20 recipients for National Institutes of Health funding and its stroke center earned the American Heart Association's Gold Seal of Achievement for excellence in stroke care. The 1,019-bed medical center houses a 20-year-old deep brain stimulation program and preformed its 1,000th deep brain stimulation procedure this year.
