UW Health-University Hospital (Madison, Wis.). The flagship of the UW Health System, University Hospital is a 505-bed regional referral center. It houses a Level I adult and pediatric trauma center, a burn center, a cancer center and one of the first certified comprehensive stroke centers. Its transplant center is one of the largest in the nation and growing. Last year, it broke its own record by 16 percent, performing 529 transplants — the fourth most of any transplant center in the country. The hospital was ranked No. 1 in the state of Wisconsin for 2016-17 by U.S. News & World Report and earned an A grade from Leapfrog for safety in fall 2016.
