Inova Fairfax Hospital (Falls Church, Va.). Inova Fairfax Hospital, the flagship hospital of the nonprofit Inova Health System, welcomed its first patients in February 1961. The 833-bed hospital is home to Northern Virginia's only Level I trauma center. The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus also contains Inova Women's Hospital, which includes a level IV neonatal intensive care unit, and Inova Children's Hospital, a 226-bed full-service children's hospital in a new facility that opened in 2016.
Inova Fairfax Hospital is a teaching facility, partnering with the medical schools of Georgetown University and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., the VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, as well as several nursing and pharmacy schools.
Inova Fairfax Hospital was ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Washington, D.C., metro area for the fourth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015-16 rankings. It was ranked nationally for gynecology, as well as for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery and neonatology. Additionally, the Leapfrog Group gave the hospital an A grade for patient safety in its fall 2015 scores.
