Novant Presbyterian Medical Center (Charlotte, N.C.). Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center opened in 1903 with 20 beds. It has since expanded to 622 beds and diversified its clinical offerings to become one of the state's most comprehensive healthcare providers.
The nonprofit Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center has more than 700 physicians on its medical staff and approximately 7,000 employees. The hospital is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence. In 2011, the hospital affiliated with Cleveland Clinic for its heart program, making it the only hospital in the region with ties to the academic medical center for cardiovascular care.
Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center has a track record of meeting the population's healthcare needs through new services and programs. It opened the Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital in the 1990s, creating a hospital-within-a-hospital to meet the needs of Charlotte's children and families. It also opened a cancer center in 1996 and its Novant Health Women's Center in 2004. More recently, the hospital began offering a range of procedures for spine conditions, including lumbar spinal stenosis, spine fractures and adult spinal deformities.
