U of Iowa partners with community college for transfer nursing students

The University of Iowa in Iowa City has teamed up with Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a new three-plus-one nursing program, ABC affiliate KCRG reported Sept. 20.

Nursing students can attend the community college for three years to complete the registered nursing program and then transfer to University of Iowa to earn their Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. The program is designed to give students a start in nursing while earning an online degree.

Fifty-eight percent of Iowa healthcare facilities had a shortage of qualified nursing applicants in 2020, according to the news outlet.
