Hospitals add 8,100 jobs in September

Healthcare added 38,800 jobs in September, with hospitals contributing 8,100 positions to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The September count is an increase from the 24,000 jobs healthcare added in August. It's also in keeping with the industry's average monthly job gain in the last 12 months, according to the bureau.

Last month's job growth primarily occurred in ambulatory healthcare services, which added 28,700 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities added 2,000 jobs.
