Employment grew in most healthcare subsectors in August, with overall sector growth below the average monthly gain over the previous 12 months.
Findings are from the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, published Sept. 6.
Here are seven numbers from the report that illustrate healthcare job trends.
- Healthcare added 30,900 jobs in August, about half the average monthly gain of 60,000 over the previous 12 months.
- Employment continued to trend up in ambulatory healthcare services and hospitals, adding 23,900 and 9,600 jobs, respectively.
- In physician offices and home healthcare services, 7,100 and 5,500 jobs were added, respectively.
- However, employment trended down in nursing and residential care facilities, with 2,600 jobs lost.
