Healthcare added 50,200 jobs in December, an increase from the 32,100 healthcare jobs added the month prior, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The growth was primarily due to ambulatory healthcare services, which added 37,800 jobs in December compared to 19,200 jobs in November. Hospitals also contributed, adding 7,400 jobs last month.
Overall, healthcare employment increased by 346,000 jobs in 2018, up from 284,000 jobs in 2017, according to the bureau.
The U.S. added 312,000 jobs in December.
