Harrison Medical Center Workers Approve Strike

Unionized workers at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wash., voted to reject the hospital's contract proposal and authorize a one-day strike.

The workers are represented by UFCW 21. The strike approval vote garnered strong support, with 88 percent of workers voting in favor of a strike.

The union is looking for a three-year contract that protects workers' healthcare plans and retains the grievance procedure.

Though a strike has been approved, no 10-day strike notice has been issued. Mediation will continue Tuesday and Wednesday.
