Walmart signed a three-year contract extension with pharmacy benefit manager Express Scripts, which will allow Express Scripts' covered members to access Walmart's prescription services.
As part of the deal, Walmart will participate in InsideRx, Express Script's pharmacy savings program, which provides discounts to any uninsured individual purchasing a brand-name prescription.
The companies said the contract extension will help both insured and uninsured customers save money on prescription drugs.
"Prescription drugs are the first line of treatment for many illnesses, and it is critical to create and sustain affordable access to innovative therapies," said Amy Bricker, president of supply chain at Express Scripts. "Our clients and patients value our ability to deliver quality, cost-effective care on their terms, and we are pleased to partner with Walmart to expand affordable access for insured and uninsured patients."
