FDA approves Lannett's new antidepressant

The Food and Drug Administration approved Lannett's paroxetine extended release tablets.

Paroxetine tablets are intended to treat patients with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The tablets are a generic version of Paxil CR tablets created by Weston, Fla.-based Apotex Technologies.

The company has already begun shipping the medicine to customers.
