Former CEO of New York's MediSys Found Guilty of Conspiracy, Fraud

David Rosen, the former CEO of New York-based MediSys Health Network who was charged with bribing New York state legislators, has been found guilty of five conspiracy and fraud counts, according to a Thomson Reuters news report.

Mr. Rosen was indicted in April and his month-long bench trial concluded in August. He was found guilty of creating fake consulting contracts to funnel money to politicians in exchange for their help and influence in Albany.

U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff presided over the trial, calling it a "sad, even tragic case," according to the report. He said it reveals how a "widely-admired hospital administrator who diligently sought to better the healthcare of impoverished communities nonetheless chose to entangle himself in the bribing of state legislators," according to the report.

Mr. Rosen was indicted along with former state assemblyman William Boyland, Jr., Senator Carl Kruger and others, but his case was severed from the other defendants. Sen. Kruger and Mr. Boyland have pleaded not guilty.
