Hawaii has the highest life expectancy for men and women, the CDC found.
The CDC released its "National Vital Statistics Report" Aug. 21, which tabulated the life expectancy and deaths in 2021 by state and gender. The CDC gathered information from the Blended Base which consists of 2020 postcensal population estimates, based on the April 2010 census, the 2020 demographic analysis estimates, 2020 census, and state-specific death and population counts for Medicare beneficiaries ages 66-99 for 2021 from CMS. These databases were used to estimate the 2021 complete life tables for the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
