Cleveland-based University Hospitals is embracing artificial intelligence to make daily huddles more efficient for its nurses and physicians.
The health system partnered with Edgility to implement a platform that automates the collection and analysis of data from multiple sources, including EHRs and medical devices. Clinical leaders at UH say the technology, which identifies patterns and trends related to patient safety, will support staff to intervene and ultimately improve outcomes.
Nursing governance councils at UH co-designed the tool with Edgility, according to a March 7 news release.
"The action-oriented lens supports our Zero Harm goals by providing a summary level view of safety and zero harm risks for use during our organizational tiered safety huddles," said Peter Pronovost, MD, PhD, chief quality and clinical transformation officer at UH. "Displaying this clinical data for our entire health system will improve efficiency in our current quality and safety monitoring process, allowing staff to intervene to prevent harm."
