A report released by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services shows New Hampshire hospitals' rate of hospital-acquired infections to be 40 percent below the national average. There were 110 HAIs across New Hampshire's 26 acute-care hospitals in 2011. National data predicted 185 HAIs during the same period, showing the rate in New Hampshire to be 40 percent below the national average. Specifically, there were 42 percent fewer central-line associated bloodstream infections and 40 percent fewer surgical site infections than expected based on national data.
