Several shared lessons were documented after an Indianapolis collaborative designed to study the effectiveness of an evidence-based bundle to reduce MRSA, according to research published in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
Five hospitals in Indianapolis implemented four evidence-based practices: active surveillance, hand hygiene, patient isolation and use of personal protective equipment such as gowns and gloves. Shared lessons and common themes from the collaborative include the following:
• Assemble the right multidisciplinary team.
• Retain management support.
• Engage frontline staff members.
• Perform process mapping.
• Collect data and feedback.
