Researchers examined data reported to the National Healthcare Safety Network by 17 outpatient dialysis facilities, comparing infection rates before and after CDC protocols (found here) were implemented.
Results showed a 32 percent decrease in overall bloodstream infections and a 54 percent decrease in vascular access-related bloodstream infections at the start of the intervention period.
