State cites University of Washington Medical Center's pharmacy for being dirty

The pharmacy at Seattle-based University of Washington Medical Center may not be clean enough, the state Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission says, according to a KOMO News report.

During an investigation, the PQAC found that the pharmacy's sterile compounding area either wasn't cleaned daily or the cleanings had not been properly documented, among other issues, according to the report.

After two inspections from the PQAC last year, the agency says UWMC's pharmacy has not sent documentation that the major problems have been addressed at the pharmacy, according to KOMO.

The University of Washington told KOMO it submitted a plan to the state that corrects the deficiencies and noted that none of the problems cited by PQAC put patient safety in jeopardy.
