St. Charles Madras diverts obstetrical services temporarily

St. Charles Madras (Ore.) has stopped delivering babies as of Friday, July 10, for about 30 days as the hospital strives to "stabilize its staffing situation," according to a hospital news release.

St. Charles Madras' obstetrical nurses-in-training are training at St. Charles Health System hospitals in Bend and Redmond to complete their clinical requirements more quickly.

Nurses and physicians will still be available at the hospital for women who arrive in the emergency department with an OB-related emergency. However, the hospital recommended that women who go into labor in the next month go directly to another St. Charles campus, St. Charles Redmond (Ore.).

According to Google Maps, the two hospital campuses are about 25 miles apart.
