Saint Joseph's Medical Center to reduce HAIs with digital rounding tool

Saint Joseph's Medical Center in Yonkers, N.Y., has implemented a digital rounding solution developed by CipherHealth to help prevent central line-associated blood stream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections.

The tool — called Orchid — will perform CLABSI and CAUTI rounds to track problems and verify proper protocols are followed to reduce the infections.

Margaret Cusumano, vice president of patient care services and CNO at Saint Joseph's, expressed excitement regarding the use of the technology as part of the hospital's infection prevention initiative.

"We are hoping that the efficiency brought by Orchid, including the real-time data capture, the automated reporting capabilities and the pre-programmed alerting can help our organization expand the scope of our patient safety rounding program and bring positive and lasting improvements for our patients," said Ms. Cusumano.
