Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., has been chosen to participate in an initiative led by Stratis Health, Minnesota's Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, according to a West Central Tribune report.
The initiative was designed to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections and surgical site infections, with efforts beginning with CAUTIs. For the next three years, the hospital will conduct a quality improvement study and share best practices with other Minnesota hospitals.
Rice Memorial Hospital's outcomes will also eventually be reported to the National Health Safety Network, which will determined reimbursements beginning in 2014 and be on display for public viewing through CMS' Hospital Compare website.
