Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf signed a bill amending the state's organ donation laws Oct. 25, which aims to reduce wasted organs and improve survival rates among transplant patients, reports WFMZ.
Here are three things to know:
1. The bill now lets individuals with power of attorney to give permission to donate a loved one's organs.
2. It also lays out a procedure for determining the deceased patients' intentions if they did not made it clear they wanted to donate their organs or tissues.
3. Pennsylvania officials indicated the state's transplant waiting list currently holds about 7,500 people.
