PCORI to Invest Up to $68M in Patient-Centered Research Network

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute is accepting applications for phase-one funding to develop a national patient-centered clinical research network, according to an AHA News Now report.

PCORI issued funding announcements for up to $68 million to support comparative clinical effectiveness research studies and patient-driven research networks, which address one of PCORI's five national priorities for research: accelerating patient-centered and methodological research, according to the news release.

PCORI will fund up to $56 million to support up to eight Clinical Data Research Networks — groups involving two or more healthcare systems that will conduct randomized comparative effectiveness studies using data from clinical practice. Up to $12 million will support up to 18 Patient-Powered Research Networks, groups of patients that will create and participate in a research network.
