Patient safety tool: CDC offers TAP report resources to assist HAI prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has created a targeted assessment for prevention report function available for National Healthcare Safety Network users looking to identify healthcare facilities with high rates of healthcare-associated infections.

The CDC developed the TAP strategy to help individuals compare rates of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, Clostridium difficile infections and central line-associated bloodstream infections at different hospitals and facilities.

The tool can also help hospital and facility staff decide where to target their HAI prevention efforts.

Facility user directions for the TAP report function in the NHSN application are available and can be accessed here. Training slides for running TAP reports the NHSN application can be found here.
