The College of American Pathologists and the National Society for Histotechnology have released their first-ever evidence-based guidelines to ensure patient safety through the uniform labeling of paraffin blocks and slides.
The guidelines include 12 guideline statements and an expert panel of pathologists and histotechnologists who address the essential elements of standardized block and slide labeling practices in the routine practice of surgical pathology.
CAP offers additional tools and resources as well, including a summary of the recommendations and frequently asked questions for further implementation and understanding.
