The Healthcare Financial Management Association honored patient safety advocate Tejal Gandhi, MD, with its highest individual achievement award on Tuesday during HFMA's annual conference in Orlando, Fla.
Dr. Gandhi, the chief clinical and safety officer for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, earned the Richard L. Clarke Board of Directors Award for her patient safety advocacy and her work to promote patient safety education to improve the quality and safety of healthcare.
"We commend Dr. Gandhi for raising the bar on patient safety by working to keep this issue front and center, engaging patients in safety efforts and expanding safety initiatives beyond the acute care setting," said HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer. "HFMA is committed to raising awareness of and support for patient safety initiatives in the healthcare finance community."
