This week, March 2-8, marks the National Patient Safety Foundation's Patient Safety Awareness Week, an education and awareness campaign aimed at highlighting healthcare safety.
This year's theme is "Navigate Your Health…Safely," which emphasizes reducing diagnostic errors.
The NPSF partnered with the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine to support PSAW 2014 by developing complimentary materials and resources regarding diagnostic accuracy.
The toolkit includes resources for physicians, healthcare professionals, patients and families, including myths and facts about diagnostic errors, checklists for patients to engage in the diagnostic process, strategies for healthcare workers to work with families and engage patients and an educational agenda to reduce diagnostic errors.
