Nurses posted bail for a man who was arrested for traffic violations as he raced to get his daughter to Centreville, Ill.-based Touchette Regional Hospital, reports Fox affiliate Fox2Now.
Darius Hinkle sped to the hospital April 4 because his 1-year-old daughter was choking on a penny. Mr. Hinkle, who does not have a valid driver's license, was driving over 100 miles per hour, according to police.
"The first thing on my mind was to get her to the hospital," he told Fox2Now.
When Mr. Hinkle pulled into the hospital, he was met by officers from several different agencies and arrested.
The nurses at Touchette Regional Hospital not only saved Mr. Hinkle's daughter from choking, but also all chipped in to cover his bond.
"I can't thank them enough," Mr. Hinkle said.
