NPSF to host two national Patient Safety Awareness discussions this week

In honor of Patient Safety Awareness Week from March 13 through 19, the National Patient Safety Foundation is presenting two national discussions on addressing this healthcare issue — a Twitter chat and a free webinar.

The Twitter chat will take place Tuesday, from 2 to 3 p.m. EST. It will focus on safety issues that are common to all healthcare settings and will include participants from federal agencies, patient safety organizations, patient advocacy groups and healthcare providers, among others, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (@CDCgov) and the National Patient Safety Foundation (@theNPSF).

Those interested in participating may join the chat by using the hashtag #PSAW16chat.

The free webinar will feature top leaders to highlight the current state of patient safety efforts at the national level. It will take place on Thursday, from 1 to 2 p.m. EST. Featured speakers will include:

  • Jeff Brady, MD, director of the Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
  • Patrick Conway, MD, deputy administrator for innovation & quality and CMO at CMS
  • Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, president and CEO of NPSF
  • Arjun Srinivasan, MD, associate director for Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Programs in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at the CDC
