Newton (N.J.) Medical Center is the first in the state to implement PeraHealth's Rothman Index, a patient safety tool that alerts medical staff when a patient's health may decline.
The Rothman Index provides an extra level of support for critical care physicians and nurses who use the graphically displayed score to detect patient problems in advance using predictive analytics. The Rothman Index powers PeraHealth's suite of surveillance solutions. The solutions allow clinicians to remotely monitor patients across multiple care settings and improve documentation accuracy.

Newton Medical Center, a 148-bed facility, is applying the Rothman Index for inpatient cases.
"Every day, doctors are confronted with processing an enormous amount of data to assess their patients' health, and then they are challenged to communicate this to patients and their caregivers," said Paul Owens, MD, CMO for Newton Medical Center. "This software gives physicians a tool to better communicate to people both short and longer term expectations about their conditions."
