The Nevada State Board of Health will hold a public hearing in regard to regulation changes that will require larger hospitals to report infection cases, according to a Reno Gazette-Journal report.
The infection reports, including cases of MRSA and clostridium difficile, would be submitted to a national data bank, which would be available to state health officials. Although Nevada state officials who have access to view the data can make that information available on the state's website, how much data that would be released to the public is yet to be determined. Hospitals in 26 other states already report hospital-associated infections.
The Nevada State Board of Health scheduled the public hearing on Aug. 13.
