The National Quality Forum has endorsed two American College of Surgeons outcomes-based measures.
They include the risk-adjusted urinary tract infection outcome measure after surgery and the harmonized procedure-specific surgical site infection outcome measure. The two measures are derived from the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program and were developed in partnership with CMS as possible national outcomes measures that could be adopted by the governmental body as early as 2015.
