National Nurse Practitioner Week ends Nov. 16: 4 things to know

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners is celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week from Nov. 10-16 this year.

Four things to know about celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week:

1. AANP holds the week annually to celebrate NPs and boost awareness about the vital role they play in the healthcare system.

2. The event also aims to educate lawmakers about how NPs are improving access to care in their communities and highlight the practice barriers that still exist for them in many areas.

3. This year's National Nurse Practitioner Week theme is "270,000 NPs: Health Care You Can Trust," which draws on the fact that this group of licensed professionals conducts more than 1.06 billion patient visits nationwide every year.

4. AANP has numerous educational resources and media templates on its website for healthcare organizations to access during the week. The group is also encouraging NPs to start a dialogue on Twitter using the hashtags #NPWeek and #WeChooseNPs.
