In an effort to improve patient safety and care, Memorial Hospital of Martinsville (Va.) & Henry County has appointed a six-member Patient Family Community Advisory Council, according to local news source Work it, SoVa.
The current representatives include a hospital care coordinator, county human resources director, urgent care coding manager and local pastor, among others. The individuals were chosen by the hospital based on their diverse backgrounds and knowledge areas.
According to the report, the new committee will meet regularly with the MHMHC CEO, CMO and CNO to work toward the following four goals:
1. Generating new ideas to improve quality healthcare delivery
2. Identifying opportunities to boost patient safety and engagement
3. Strengthening the relationship between MHMHC and community members
4. Providing tips to hospital leaders on planning and evaluating services, programs, policies, teaching materials and patient education
"Memorial Hospital understands that a great hospital must be responsive to the community it serves. I am proud to be part of their efforts to enhance the delivery of 'patient-centered' care," new committee member Reverend John Fulcher, told Work it, SoVa . "The fact that our council will have direct access to Memorial Hospital's leadership team truly underscores their commitment to providing the highest quality of care in a safe and comfortable environment for patients."
