Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire (Wis.) and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire teamed up Feb. 12 to create a medical academy program free to students.
The six-week program is designed for everyone, the university said in a news release, "from high school students who might be interested in a career in healthcare to retirees who might want to learn more about what makes them tick."
The two organizations said the program was created to educate the public on healthcare foundations. Students 16 and older can attend for free, and the program is $50 for all other participants.
Practicing physicians will be leading the courses, which will touch on neurology, cardiology and orthopedics. The first session is scheduled for April 1.
