More Massachusetts hospital workers received flu vaccinations during the most recent flu season compared to last season, but state officials said more work can be done, according to a Boston Globe report.
Last flu season, approximately 71 percent of acute-care hospital workers received the flu shot. That number increased to 81 percent this flu season but fell short of the 90 percent goal posed by federal regulators.
Mandatory flu vaccinations have been a subject of controversy in the healthcare space. Some hospitals have made flu vaccinations a condition of employment, while others have increased access to flu shots for healthcare workers or required face masks in place of flu shots.
