Research published in the Journal of Nursing Administration shows nursing Magnet hospitals, which make up 9 percent of hospitals nationwide, have better nurse-reported quality of care than non-Magnet hospitals.
A study from the New York University College of Nursing in New York City and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia examined a cross-section of Magnet and Non-Magnet hospitals and found positive work environments for nurses were positively correlated with higher quality nurse-reported care.
Researchers concluded Magnet hospitals produce superior care through investing in better work environments for their nurses, according to a news release.
