Kansas hospital participants in a statewide collaborative have reported fewer central line-associated bloodstream infections, according to a Kansas Healthcare Collaborative release.
Over a two-year period, 59 Kansas hospitals participated in the On the CUSP: Stop BSI initiative, a national effort to reduce healthcare-associated infections. The initiative involves a culture change model, the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program and interventions to prevent CLABSI. Data analysis shows the hospitals collectively reduced the incidence of central-line associated bloodstream infections by 79 percent.
