The Joint Commission aims to minimize the risk of patient falls through a new safety campaign, the accrediting body announced July 24.
Three things to know:
1. The "Speak Up To Prevent Falls" campaign is designed to help patients and caregivers take a more active role in their own care and limit fall risks.
2. As part of the campaign, The Joint Commission is offering healthcare providers educational resources to share with patients on how they can prevent falls.
3. The new campaign is an extension of The Joint Commission's Speak Up program, which was first launched in 2002 to encourage patients to act as their own healthcare advocates.
