A New York couple claims the mother was impregnated with the wrong embryos in a lawsuit filed against Los Angeles-based CHA Fertility Clinic the week of July 1, according to CBS News.
The Asian-American couple says they were expecting female twins after spending over $100,000 on in-vitro fertilization services. Instead, the mother gave birth to two non-Asian male babies in March 2019. Genetic testing confirmed the babies did not belong to the couple, who had to give up the babies to their biological parents, the lawsuit says.
The lawsuit also claims CHA Fertility Center deliberately concealed the mix-up and particularly blames Joshua Berger, MD, and Simon Hong, PhD, co-owners of the facility.
CHA Fertility Center did not respond to Becker's request for comment.
