The more than 1,500 member hospitals of the American Hospital Association's hospital engagement network, the Health Research & Educational Trust, have announced a two-year savings of $202 million for 69,000 patients, according to the AHA report.
Other improvements include reductions in:
- Early elective deliveries (57 percent)
- Ventilator-associated pneumonia (34 percent)
- Pressure ulcers (26 percent)
- Central line-associated blood stream infections in intensive care (23 percent)
- Avoidable heart failure readmissions (13 percent)
The program is part of the CMS Partnership for Patients program, according to a news release.
