Hospital admission volume goes up by 101% for Septicemia, down by 71% for chest pain in Pa, report shows

In Pennsylvania, hospital admission volume for Septicemia saw the largest increase while volume for chest pain saw the largest decrease from 2010 to 2015, according to the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council's Hospital Performance Report.

Here are four conditions with the largest increases in hospital admissions:

•    Septicemia: 101 percent
•    Acute kidney failure: 30 percent
•    Heart attack (angioplasty/stent): 10 percent
•    Stroke: 9 percent

Here are four conditions with the largest decreases in hospital admissions:

•    Chest pain: 71 percent
•    Hypotension and fainting: 54 percent
•    Open gallbladder removal: 37 percent
•    Laparoscopic gallbladder removal: 25 percent
