HIMSS, Alliance for Nursing Informatics present leadership award to Dr. Catherine Ivory: 4 things to know

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the Alliance for Nursing Informatics honored Catherine Ivory, PhD, RN-BC, with the 2017 HIMSS-ANI Nursing Informatics Leadership Award, the organizations announced Jan. 17.

Each year, HIMSS and ANI present the award to an individual who the HIMSS North America board of directors determines has "demonstrated significant leadership in the area of nursing informatics within the society and the healthcare community."

Here are four things to know about Dr. Ivory.

1. Dr. Ivory, a board-certified informatics nurse, is the associate chief nurse executive and vice president of professional practice and care transformation at Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health.

2. She is a faculty member of Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and holds a secondary appointment in the department of biomedical informatics at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

3. In 2014, Dr. Ivory served as the president of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.

4. She has participated in various HIMSS committees, including the HIMSS Standard Terminologies Task Force, the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Committee and the HIMSS Annual Conference Nursing Symposium Planning Committee.
