HHS Provides MERS Coronavirus Guidance for Hospital Preparedness Program

HHS issued guidance on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus for Hospital Preparedness Program participants, according to an AHA News Now report.

MERS-CoV is a viral respiratory illness that has infected 114 people, 54 of whom have died, since April 2012. There have been no reported cases in the U.S.

HHS aligned the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance on MERS-CoV with the preparedness program's National Guidance for Healthcare System Preparedness, including processes for detection, protection and response.
